What is your unpopular opinion on startup culture?
First, my two favorite thinkers on the subject are the Co-Founders of Basecamp.com. Jason Fried and David H. Hansson are two minds whom I respect and admire.
Through their work at Basecamp and few books published to date, they cover topics such as Work-life balance, funding, and management.
Many of their opinions definitely go against the startup group-think. That said, their writing has helped inform my own thinking.
Unpopular opinions
- Don’t buy new equipment. The market is absolutely flooded with 2 year old hardware? You can save more than 50% off retail, which help struggling startups.
- Remote work and hiring will be the future.
- Scale is almost always not your issue
